RENOVATION, MAINTENANCE AND STRUCTURAL STRENGTHENING OF THE EXISTING CAR PARK (G+3) FOR THE QATAR GENERAL POSTAL CORPORATION

The structure is a 4-level car parking constructed more than 20 years ago. Being a Landmark in the City of Doha, the General Postal Office is not only a symbol of the progress Qatar had attained in an impressive period of time, but it also represents the country's continuous engineering growth.

The project required a thorough structural analysis of the existing building and a systematic retrofitting of damaged elements due to the wear brought by age.  

The main works concentrated on the Structural Strengthening of deflected slabs using CFRP, Column Jacketing to accommodate the current excessive load, replacement and treatment of heavily corroded reinforcement, and the removal of excess dead load based on structural calculations and recommendations. Concrete Repair was used and treated on columns due to spalling and Crack Injection was applied in structural fractures on concrete to regain the required strength.

Complete refurbishment on all levels with new Traffic Coating System, Impact Protection System, Traffic Signage and full face-lifting of the architectural facade were included in the renovation work.
