TOTAL BUILT AREA: 32,685 sqm.
The construction of the Arab International Academy Schools - Tarsheed in Doha, Qatar is a comprehensive endeavor aimed at providing a modern educational facility as part of Qatar’s undertaking to build a progressive academic system and educational infrastructure.
Spanning over 87,700 sqm land area with a total built-up of 32,685 sqm and a duration of 24 months, the project involves meticulous planning and strategic execution. The site is located within the modern area of Doha, adjoining residential neighbourhoods and prominent educational institutions. Adjacent to the Arab Centre for Research & Policy Studies and the Newton International Academy, the school is strategically set within the Qatar University Complex and The Pearl Qatar.
The school features state-of-the-art educational facilities such as interactive classrooms, laboratories, libraries, art rooms, theatre, sports amenities, and recreational areas that caters to a total of 1,500 students throughout all grade levels, within a Base-4 module of four classrooms each grade. The school is intended to be a Mixed International School.
The Academic Buildings are divided into two main sections – the Junior School and the Senior School, respectively. The Junior School houses the Pre-KG and KG 1&2 in a single-storey structure, while Grades 1-5 are accommodated in a two-storey building. The Senior School includes the addition of senior administration offices and libraries within the ground floor, and all academic facilities are distributed across the building’s three levels.
The general layout of the academic block optimizes spatial utilization for efficient navigation and segregation of spaces based on functionality, requirements, and age-group levels.
Supporting structures include a shared Sports Complex with a swimming pool, football field, gymnasium and fitness rooms, canteen, and a Central Administration Building with a high-tech audio-visual auditorium. Notably, the swimming pool is designed sustainably with lighting wells that provide natural light to illuminate the space.
The canteen is designed as a single-level structure that provides a communal dining space and prayer halls for up to 400 students.
The Central Administration and Auditorium are strategically positioned within the community square and serves a hub for administrative activities, while maintaining visual connectivity with the others buildings within the complex and ensuring effective supervision.
Outdoor areas are thoughtfully integrated into the spatial arrangement of the external site complex, with a Central Square serving as a focal point for social interaction. Designated external spaces cater to different age groups featuring open areas, play and exercise structures, landscaping, and canopy trees that encourage physical activities and complement the overall learning environment of the school.
The project aims to deliver a modern, functional, safe, and sustainable learning environment that fosters social growth and physical well-being, and meets the educational needs of the community while contributing to the overall development of Qatar’s educational landscape.
